The bridge from Mae Sot in Thailand to Tachilek in Myanmar: Now open for overland travels in Myanmar.

In another move to promote tourism Myanmar has opened four border crossings: Starting from August 28 the following border points are open:
. Mae Sai / Tachilek
. Mae Sot / Myawaddy
. Ban Phu Nam Ron / Htee Kee
. Ranong / Kawthoung
As the Ministry of Immigration writes, it will be possible to travel overland from these border points and leave Myanmar by all the other border points like Nay Pyi Taw International Airport, Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport and the points mentioned above. The Visitors are permitted to travel everywhere except the restricted areas designated by the Ministry of Home Affair. The list of restricted areas is available at the border entrances and exits. Visa ar still not available at the border and have to be applied for in advance. Until now at the mentioned checkpoints you could only enter for staying in nearby cities.
